About Us
Maharshi Vivekananda Samaj Kalyan Sanstha, Akkalkot was established in 1971 by the respected visionary
Shri Panchappa Kalyanshetti with the noble mission of providing education to rural children, especially girls
from border areas. With this aim, he founded a college in the name of his mother, Matoshri Gurubasava.
Initially, due to social barriers, parents hesitated to send their daughters to higher education, leading to the closure
of the Commerce stream for a period of time.
After his demise, the responsibility of the institution came into the hands of Hon. MLA Sachin Kalyanshetti,
who in 2021 secured government permission to admit both boys and girls. In 2022, alongside Arts, Commerce and Science faculties
were also introduced, leading to a remarkable increase in student strength. By 2025, students from Arts, Commerce, and Science
streams began graduating from the university, fulfilling the vision of the founder. The constant guidance of
Shri Mallinath Kalyanshetti, Senior Director of the institution, has been instrumental in this journey.
